Here is my two middle boys after todays check. It was brutal. The ice was about 3/4 of an inch thick . I pushed the canoe like an ice breker and stumbled along behind.

And here is todays catch , another tailgater. 43 rats and one beaver. The oldest boy in pic got a little peppering at a yote stnding on the ice but we never did find it. I am off to the skinning shed, I hope the weather warms I still have a few hot sloughs to trap but I cant walk in that ice any mpre.

Ya the coat hanger wire works great. I asked my mentor about it and he said in the old days they never used a door? He said some probaly got out but they still caught rats! lol At least the bottom sludge wouldn't jam them shut and prevent anything from getting in.

Your doing awsome and the boys look like they are haven a blast, congrats, I have some subs with and without doors, both seam to work well.
