Do you fellas set goals or just get out there and trap I realy just try to catch more than I did the year befor but I still make goals just to give me somthin to shoot for, this years are Martin 40 wolf 5 coyote 80 rat 100 plus squerrils 100 mink 5 weasels 50 fox 5 lynx 10 and I would realy like to catch my first fisher and otter.

Well we always have ideas in the back of our minds of what we want to catch. Of course we pursue the more valuable and populated furbearers harder. We're short on rats around here this year so probably 100 rats will be our goal, we really thinned them out last year. If coon prices dont improve we'll only trap them to thin them out of areas we've let rest for 2 seasons. Mink and greys are on the decline so we wont chase too many mink maybe aim for 10(?) and we try to release all of our greys now. 3 badgers of course(our legal limit per license), if the boys get license's then 3 for each of them will be our goal and very realistic. Boys like trapping reds so 10's a fair number with todays prices. 1,000 possum, lol, j/k. I'd like to shoot for 70 skunks but if we downsize the land line it'll be tough. Gonna expand the beaver line and hope castor prices hold or maybe even improve(awesome!) so if I can stay healthy and everything else holds maybe 40 spring flattails? Yotes we just trap and shoot every one we can but hoping maybe 20 fawn eaters dont see next years fawning and calving season.

My goal is to beat last years catch, but hopefully catch some Red Fox, Bobcats and a mink or two. There are not many rats around and none that I know of on my trapping area, so I guess I will pass on them. I did buy 6 Duke #4's, so I will try Beaver after the regular season closes. I am simply out for something to do, to get me out of the house and have fun doing it.

I would like to see 12 cats this season, and 40 coons, other than that if I can catch a fox of either species and my normal amount of grinners to keep them from overpopulating I will be ok. I may even try for a yote or 2 this year. I have a remote trap line that a guy runs for me and I come back and set up and take care of the fur. The yotes reak havoc on his calves but he lives a little outside of my range for me to make it a part of my daily run. Besides he likes to get a little sweet revenge out of his system. Oh yeah, I also would like a few more beavers and rats this year, I caught 2 of each last season and had a pretty good time doing it. Kind of sounds like a note to Santa don't it?
