Awesome info guys, thanks for the info and pictures. Ok 'nother question, I thought a "whammy" was for a dispatching snare? Kinda like the big springs in those Canadian killer snares? Am I way off base there?

A wammy is for puttin your support wire in to hold your snare in place over the trail. I use 1/4 inch clear gas line tubbing, cheep, fast, eazy. I think I paid $6 for 15 feet of it then cut it into pieces from 3/4 to 1 inch long and you can even reuse tham too after a catch lol. All they are is a way to quickly attatch your snare to the support wire.

Yeah, in that last pic I put up on pg. 1, you can see the wammy. It was clear tubing, but I left it in with the wire and it got a little camo'ed. I have a few snares with dispatch springs which are really handy if you are doing a set where entanglement isn't an option.

On the snare in the pic i posted, you don't need a whammy the figure 8 tie wire in the top loop is all you need to support the snare.

Oh ok. Thanks. I knew from reading that some used a support wire etc to hold the snare off the ground where it needed to be.
