I come into some pvc pipe cut offs and decided to make a fleashin beam. I had sean a few pix of them befor and I think it was Catman or Mohawk who put up pix of thiers. So I just kinda went with thier patern and this is what I came up with. the beam is on square tubin that slips into another on the base, so it can be taken down to save room or transport. Still may have to cut the bottom off at a little more of an angle to help the hides go over nicely.

Looks great Fuzz, somewhat familiar too Here is a pic of my beam: I have been slackin and still haven't gotten a base made for mine, probably wont before season either. There is nothing wrong with the hillbilly measuring system though, now you know it fits! I don't know that the "wedge" on mine needs to be as long as it is, so yours may be just fine the way it is! By making my wedge as long as I did, I narrowed the beam part quite a bit, which makes me turn the hide more instead of being able to just follow the curve a little more.

Mo is yours a 4 or 6 inch beam?? I think I like the nose on yours better than mine, but I still have 1 more pipe cut off incase I don't like the way I cut mine and have to change it to more like yours.

It's a 6", I tried a 4" but there was too sharp of a radius and it didn't fit my knife worth a dang. LOL! I just noticed all the crap in the background, it's a wonder there isn't a bucket of fat in that pic somewhere!

There looks to be a set of coyote walkin sticks jst out front of your beam lol your bucket of fat was probly just past that lol. Do you use your carcusses and fleashings to make a bait pile to snare around??

I do, I have a buddy south of me a ways that has a yote problem and he confines his cows to a 20 acre pen when they are getting close. I got him interested in snaring them a couple years ago and he loves it. Anyway, he has a smaller section fenced off, probably about 2 acres, next to the cow/calf pen and that is where I dump the bait. The best part is that he fenced almost all of his property with woven wire fence and the yotes have to dig under it to get in.

Not really, it's a pretty sweet deal. He runs the snares and calls if I got anything, then I go pick it up. Then at the end of the season I collect all the spent snares and rebuild them and send them back for another round.

Now i will have to make a new beam out of pvc,,,just so i don't get left behind. LOL! I haven't really used anything else, with the exception of Catmando's wooden beam and his sharp knives and I was nerved up enough that I was gonna screw something up that I didn't form a valid wood vs. pvc pro/con list. We are always cutting a chunk of pvc pipe out at work, sometimes even 6".

Here is mine out of 6in. I have a wood one, but it is a flat beam and I have a curved knife, so that don't work much. I used to use my grizzle git'r speed fleshing tool on the wood one, but since I got the necker, I don't even use it.... so I put it away in storage. I love my pvc one though!
