I think my favrite is the montana #3 fully mod, but I have had great luck with bridger #2 an #3, duke #2 and #3 as well as Sleapy creek #3. They all neaded some tuning but they all heald coyotes no problem.

here in the desert, i like the bridger #2's,offset and with three swivels. but the duke # 2's and 3's have held with no problem. anything i use here in utah has to be offset, bit they seem to cut down on broken legs, especialy on the grey fox

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like a four coiled #3 with offset jaws. Good heavy chain and plenty of swivels too

I only have 1 #3 bridger os 2 coil, and it held 3 coyotes and a fox last fall, all in the same set. It was a little big for the red fox but on the yotes it was perfect

For the long run I am sure the bridger #3 is the best trap. Here they have to be os and or laminated, I am not sure what the rules are in your area though. The duke works fine but is not as well biult as the bridger. I have only cought 1 coyote in a soft catch and it did a heck of a job, the coyote tryed to go cliff jumping and the trap held him just fine and no foot damage, but I am not a real fan of the padded jaws, more to were out and nead replacing and like you said the price is high, I mainly bought mine for trapin lynx but I have never caught a lynx in one yet.

If a person is going to invest in a fully modified trap, really by the time you pay for it, or buy the parts, and do the work yourself, the MB brand traps are the way to go. They come ready to go straight from the box, and the price is very comparitable to even modifying your own traps by the time you add all the cost. I love my MB's. I have never seen a more durable, smooth, and heavy built trap that will stand up to years of coyote punishment like em. The only trap brand you can modify for less, is a duke. I am mainly speaking of the #3 size coil spring traps. But the cross piece of duke traps always scare me as they will be the first thing to go.

I use the MB 750 wolfers and they are a great trap, but I have not used the 550 or 650, herd good things about them though

Never had any luck foot holding yotes. All mine have been snared. Maybe 1 of these days I'll get it down
