On another forum I was talkin to a fella about the difrent ways people place thier traps at dirt hole sets for coyotes and foxs. I found if I set my trap dead center and realy close to the hole. I dig my hole at a steep angle so they have to come in close to look down it and in order to dig they end up puttin thier foot right on the pan. I know there are alot of ways to place trap and I do it other ways some times but this is how I do most of them. This is a standerd dirt hole set the way I do them  This is a kinda dirt hole step down set  Some times I will turn the trap alittle and put the jaw even alittle closer to the hole. This is just how I am doin it, lets see how you fellas are doin it, you can never have too many tricks up your sleave when it comes to trappin coyotes. |

for fox, I like my trap to be right up tight against the hole and dead center, on a regular dirt hole set. I like the step down dirt hole much better though for fox as it tends to guide their foot right to the pan.
I don't trap for yotes much, but if I do, I set about 10 in. from the hole, and off center about 4 in. on a regular dirt hole if the hole is at a 45 degree angle. The straighter up and down the hole is, the closer I set my trap to the hole and not as much off center.
