Well the first check was a pretty good one ! We caught nothing at the first beaver house out of three snare poles they wern't touched . I am sure they are still home, good frost chimney and lots of chewed sticks frozen in the ice . Then next spot we caught the first weasel in about 20 years in me and the boys "recycled" weasel boxes {the ones made out of the welding rod tins} . It is a small long tail that didn't even miss a step heading into the tin! Plus at that house we caught the only beaver of the day. It is a grizzled, battle scared vet who's tail has several chunks taken out of it. I should be a chalenge to clean skin for the first of the year! LoL The other coyote bait was a big succes with 4 yotes, 1 the mice shaved the fur off his back. Aother has the wet cow sh!!! dicease. I don't know what it is called but they look wet and they smell like cow manure. We had it bad around my place when I moved out here but a couple years of hitting them hard realy cleaned the population up of it. The other two are rely nice winter yotes and i cant wait to thaw everything out and start skinning! But that will have to wait till the christmas festivities are over. Merry Christmas to all!!!!

I forgot to mention the other big catch, me! The 1 and only mink box I have is from my high school trapping days and it was a little tight for my Bdrand new ldl 120's . They also only had one slot in the roof for a single spring.[ I don't know were I got that idea from , it was 20 years ago}anyways, whwen we set it I modified it the way a welder modifies wood structures ,with my chainsaw on the side of the road. It still wasn't right but I pushed the trap in it anyways and put everything into the cculvert. Well the whole time till this first check I was worried that I checked to see if the trap would fire. Well on this check I was messing with it to take it out of the box and o it fired alright! Perfect catch right below the second knucle on my left thumb! I am thankful they are the standard traps and have a space between the jaws. I still have a swollen ,blue thumb to put together all the toys with!
