Well its check day! I made a couple new mink boxes by looking through white's profile and find a pic of one that he made out if 1x4's . Thanks to people like him on these sites A person can see diffrent ways of doing/making things other than the the same old designs that are in every manual. Even have some beaver for bait!LOL

Well it was the the same out come as last check. 4 coyotes , 1 beaver and a weasel! The mice shaved one of the yotes and one has a real red looking belly [ touch of mange I think ] one is just s scruffy looking little bugger and one is a nice big pale. I will have to see what they look like when they thaw. The weasel was caught in a recycled box and he had fed for a bi before being caught. When he did get caught he was caught to far back around the hips so he is covered in blood from the beef liver and lure from the back of the box! I hope it all washes out? I am sure it will. Set up another house with two snare poles and I enen broke out a 330 because there is no water other than in the runs so even I should be able to catch one in a conni through the ice. Also there were fresh mink tracks so I put out one of my new boxes and I replace the box that caught my thumb with a new box also.

well Out of 8 yotes I think there will only be 3 nice ones and one marginal one to skin! Darn they are a scaby bunch of saps up there! 3 are on the boards and the weasels are on the boards and the battle scared old beaver is on there to, he didnt hardley have any scars so his tail must have taken most of the abuse. I was given two badger that my brother in-law shot at the beginning of December. He shot them with his deer rifle but the damage looks miminal I guess I will see when I take there jackets off.

Well I had 4 more recycled weasel boxes left and a mink box so mae and the boys went and set them out this afternoon. F unny but once you get looking those little buggers are everywere. Seems there numbers must be following the mice population boom. Faced the triggers of the rat traps towards the door on these ones . I thought I read on another forum that they had better luck with the trigger toward the bait but the weasels have been dirty from the bait and I had to wash them so hopefully we catch them on the other end.

Checked the sets today and you guessa ed it 4 yotes, 1 very large weasel and another beaver. The diffrence is we got all four yotes off the same bait as all the ugly one were caught and these 4 are all good yotes. Had another beaver that must been caught before the pole froze in. He hauled the bait pole out of the hole , drug it to the top of the lodge were the pole got tangled and he broke off the 16 gauge figure 8 anchore wire. He the walked to the feed beed and had a sit for what looks like a while. Then I guess he figured that he would take his chances in the hole and was gone! O well what can you do? I dont imagine he will be fooled by a free meal of poplar again! In the end I was happy with the catch its just that it has been the excact same all three times! Kind of strange I keep telling my brother inlaw that the yotes will slow down but we caught 12 so far and all but one come from the same bait in ten days . It will slow down but it was a good run!
