Cedar swamps are great,,hard wood ridges, around beaver ponds Fisher also eat apples/nuts/ berries. Fisher also follow well beaten rabbit trails.

In my area fisher habitat generally consist of heavily treed coniferous and mixed forest areas with lots of dead fall ( heavy woody debris) along or near riparian areas. They prefer to travel and hunt under a well closed forest canopy. They are not well adapted for travel in deep, soft snow conditions, thus they are seldom found in mountainous areas.

fisher can be found just about anywhere. My line is heavy pine and spruce and i get them through out the line. Other trappers in the area have more hard wood on their line and do just as good if not better then me. Eastern Ontario which lacks a lot of coniferous forest and has many farms and mostly hardwood stands seems to put out more fisher then us up here in northwestern Ontario. I never set for a fisher because each year i catch them in different parts of my line, i never know where they are. Most of the catches are in marten boxes or fox snares. If you have a good food supply where you trap chances are the fisher won't be far off. If you know you have fisher in your line just set your boxes or buckets or what ever you use in wooded areas , along creeks, and just off of fields.

Land features will change from 1 area to another From spruce to pine to hardwoods and a mixture These areas all hold fisher.
