In Canada, I am sure you have access to traps I am not familiar with, but here in the US the MB 450 or 550 are the better traps. They are a little higher, but they are good to go right out of the box, just dye,wax and set. Or in the case of the last dozen 550's I bought, I just waxed and set. Pick any trap out there, then sit down and figure out how much you are going to spend to modify it into a good trap. Then compare prices. Better yet, order just 1 MB 450 or 550 and see for yourself. Good Luck!! I know this is like Ford VS Chevy Vs Dodge

Ford & Dodge don't make traps. Back in the day when 1 fox would buy a dozen traps & a tank of gas in the truck. I was a fox trapper,i learned the higher the foot catch the better all we had at that time was victors ,,the # 2 was the only trap that had square jaws,,with the jaw height i wanted ..it became my favorite, Buy a trap with some clearance.there are many makes to chose from these days.

MB's are kinda weird as far as size goes.
450= 1.5 size trap, 4 3/8 in. jaw spread
550= between a 2 and 3 size trap, kinda oblong. 4 3/4in jaw spread but longer than it is wide.
650= 3-4 size trap, 6 1/2 in. jaw spread
750= 5 size trap, 7 1/4 in. jaw spread
As far as my choice of a fox trap, I really like the 450's. But they are more species specific being only really good for fox and coon sized animals, but will hold coyotes. They are compact, lightning fast, and very solidly built. I like them better then a larger trap for concealment reasons. My #1 choice for fox esp. in the early season when using nothing but dirt, when there is little worries of freeze ups. They are "mini" 550's in essence. The PIT pan design is awesome on this trap and the 550. Zero pan wobble and the audible night latch "click" is a bonus that has proven priceless on my lines.
The 550 is the best all around choice as it will be good for most animals. Coon, fox, 'cats, and yotes will find themselves on your boards if they mess with these traps. My go to fox trap, in nasty weather when freeze ups are an issue. They are a bit larger so concealment is not as good, but still not a hard trap to hide. Also a great trap for a line that has multi species. Nice PIT pan.
Having said that, I would use about any of the brands of traps for just fox. It doesn't take alot to hold them if the hit was good. The fox's I have caught this season , I caught them in Sleepy Creek brand #1 1/2's with 2- coils. They come center swiveled and use a nice pinch pan design that makes the pan rock solid, which needs to be a factor considered when buying fox traps.
