The wife keeps telling me her car is making a bad noise when she puts the brakes on. Come to find out one rear wheel bearing is completely finished. The car is a 2007 with only 73.000 km Talk about making them to sell.

it is funny some times they give up so fast, some last alittle better sometimes. It is like on my 1 ton dodge, I have them stupid 17 inch rims, the tires are blody expencive, and the reasane for the 17's they say is for room, for bigger brakes so they dont burn out so fast. Well I usuualy have to do the brakes once a year. When I was a kid I had on old 1 ton chev with 16 tiers that I put several hundred thousand km on and never did the brakes, funny how that works isnt it.

My Ford has 40,000 miles on it and I pull a trailer with it that weighs about 12,000 loaded, the brakes are origonal and still in Great shape.

White I would look closely at the rim and rotor to insure that they not warped or bent. I would suspect that something is putting pressure on the bearing, or they were not properly thightened when the car was built. Also if you live on a gravel road, or drive a lot on a gravel road, I would repack them every other year. A little dust can destry bearings in a short time. I have been there and done that. I have a shot bearing on my small horse trailer that I need to replace as soon as it warms up some. Good Luck

Is that drum or disk brakes on the back. All the newer cars have a sealed bearing no way to re-pack them.

gth- I have an 88 ford ranger 4x4 that i use for trapping and it has to be the toughest thing on wheels. If our insurance worked like Quebec insurance I would have a dedicated trapping vehicle and a commuter, but here I can have 5 cars and i will be paying full premiums on all of them. No savings.
