Fires here are out of control, 281000 hectors burned which is over 1000 square miles or over 618000 acres. We have 118 aircraft and over 80 helicopters and 14 water bombers and over 2000 men on the ground. BC is sending another 350 fire fighters our way as well as Newfoundland sending more aircraft. The MNR expect another 20 fires today and more later as we are about to get some thunder boomers and lots of lightning. Our town has declared status of emergency so the federal government can help support all the evacuees that have been air lifted to our town and surrounding communities. Temps have been in the mid 30.s and as high as 45c with the humadex and no rain in the future

Heavy rain just started 20 minutes ago and should last till this evening. The big storm front is coming in from Manitoba. Hopefully it will cool things down and help with the fires. Lots of thunder and lightning with this front.11.20 in the morning and it seems like its 9.30 at night.

yes things are starting to simmer down a bit, one fire alone is over 118 thousand hectars. Its still going to be weeks before things really settle down. The MNR are predicting that some of the first Nation people can return home in a few days. One problem the MNR are having is getting enough jet fuel for all the aircraft. As of today we have 118 fires, most of them out of control.

As of today we now have 140 fires burning. We were at camp for the last 6 days cutting trail and shut down on Saturday as the bush was so dry. Every where we walked it was like walking on corn flakes. Had about 2 hours rain this morning and now that got soaked up as fast as it fell. All the grass is starting to die, the garden is toast. They are calling for a little rain tomorrow. What we need is some one who can do a rain dance.

Sure hope they get them fires out soon and you get some rain.... I got a sprinkle this morning, but it was not even enough to wash the dust off the truck. It is very dry here, we have had no fires that I know of, but it won't be long if it doesn't rain soon. I haven't had to mow the lawn in 3 weeks. It is brown everywhere except the latteral lines.....

Fire is a healthy thing for the land, but out of control it's horrible. I sure hope things are better up there.
