Drill some 1/2'' holes in all 4 sides of the bucket. The bucket is set completely submerged in 3 foot + water. ,around beaver lodges, beaver dams, log jams etc, Also in clear pools on the water ways . Cut the slots for the 220, add about 15 pounds of gravel or small rocks.Tie the top of the spring loops together to keep the trap solid. The bucket stands up,just like in the picture. Its a good idea to add a swivel to the otter trap. The fish a mackeral is 5'' under the trap held with 2 wires. I use 3/32 cable to tie the trap off, also tie the bucket. The first time i tried this set i was trying to put the mackreal on the trigger wires.not a good idea those LDL 220s hurt.

Thanks for the info on the bucket set. How do you put the bucket down into the water? are you working out of a boat or off land. 3 feet of water above the top of the bucket or just 3 feet and deeper.

Most buckets are set under the ice,Just cut a hole and drop anchor trap & bucket ,3 feet of water over the bucket.
