As many of you know I rescued an old horse about two years ago. He had been severely starved and totally neglected for a long time. I took him in and went to work to bring him back to what he should be. Well I lost that battle last night. He was down yesterday morning when I went to feed before daylight. Had the vet out and after a couple of hours, we took him into the vet clinic for IV's and more heavy duty pain meds. He called about 5Pm and said the old horse was going down hill. I had already given a standing order to put him down if that is what needed to be done. He called about 9 pm and said he had put Roany down. Final diagnosis was a twisted gut. My Autistic Step Daughter had fallen in love with the old horse and is very saddened by his death, as is the rest of the family. He will be missed, He was a good horse with a great Fox Trotting gate.
