I have spent the past several days working on a new hide puller for coyotes. As some of you may recall, I built one a couple of years ago that was a horizontal model. I did not like it, it worked, but not the way I wanted it to. This new one is made out of steel, and can be totally disassembled into its componets in less than 5 minutes and then re assembled just as quick. This makes it very easy to transport, should I go trapping in another area or out of state. It can have a total height of 12 feet for use on coyotes, or can be on 8 feet for coons. The photos are of the puller with out any extensions. The puller is 6 feet 5 inches in these photos. The work area is elevated to 36 inches, which will keep me from having to bend over. It can be raised or lowered, The work table is further adjustable, in that the clamping system can be narrowed or opened up for different size animals. Some of the various photos show the range of adjustments. I have two remaining items to build, one is something to hold the winch controls and the other is the six 5 inch sections of rebar I need to complete the clamps. I need to scrounge up the steel to build both items as I have nothing on hand that I think will work. I also need to grind off some of the real ugly welds. The later welds looked pretty good, but the first ones are real ugly.

Wolf, if you only knew. Some of the first welds are butt ugly. It has been a while since I welded anything with a stick welder and the appearence of the welds show that. Towards the end of the project, they got better looking. I will grind down the ugly welds a little and then paint it.

You can fix a lot with a grinder and a few layers of paint. It looks good from here I am looking forward to the pics of it in action as well.
