Only got 4 over night. Terrible winds and a wind chill of -16. Froze in traps and one place I cut off the anchor wire and rat and trap went to the bottom. Good thing for shoulder length gloves! Pulled my traps and sealed everyone up real good. I got close to what I thought out of here so I am happy now I am hunting for another.

I must say Oldyote you are doing very well. Good to see the little ones involved. Seems you are the only one taking fur this time of year. Doubt we will even get a chance at trapping for rats till after the season closes, in fact their is a good chance of ice when the walleye season opens next month.

Our fishing season opens may first . There is no chance on fishing in open water. I am going to try to find some rats today.

Drove by the last rat slough we trapped and seen three rats sitting on the ice edge. Glad to see that we left a few for seed

Slow spring this year, I just finished trapping a few rats here and the lake in front of the house is still iced, trapped a river for a few days. Sure is nice to get out in the fresh spring air. Really enjoy your pictures. Here your question of the day How many rats fit in a plastic 5 gallon bucket? Jim

Jim your making me sick, trapping rats out of a boat, lucky you. Our rat season will be closed before we get any of that open water stuff this year. 15 rats to a bucket. I would also like to see that float out of the water, looks like it could be a killer design.

10 rats to a bucket... Looks like a good run on the rats Jim.
I made a few floats to try this year but I decided not to use them. To many waterfowl and I figured for sure I would end up with more ducks than rats.
Managed to get 22 rats, all in colony traps but one in a baited 120.
