Ended up with a beutiful week end off so took the boys hunting.I got the boy a youth model 20 gauge to use. The first flock that flew up he got two out of three shots!

Awsome tell your son he is a way better hunter than me, I have never got a partrige,,,,,,,(dont tell him I dont have them over here ok lol)

Oldyote is that a praire chicken as we call it here and not a partridge. We get the odd praire chicken here and most times you cannot get in range to blast them, very spooky to our grouse.

It is a Hungarian partridge Lol. They are a introduced species ( I don't remember when, in the 40's maybe) the live in flocks of up to around 15( that is a big flock) usually 10 or so. They fly fast as lightning and they usually all fly at the same time from under foot. Scares the crap out of you are not expecting it. And sometime when you are. Lol. They have meat not as white as a ruff grouse but way whiter than a spruce hen they call it a pink meat. Very good.
