I had always wanted trap to but when I bought my property I couldn't keep the beavers from washin out the road every year, and the coyotes were so thick they were killin off all the critters. I watched 4 of them go after a big healthy 5x5 mule deer buck in the field down the road from my place, of coarse I had no gun, next day I followed the ravens and sure enough they got him. So I went and took my trappers ed course and now my road is high and dry and the coyotes are alittle werrier around here, we are even startin to get deer back.

How do i answer this question. at one time there was a little money in trapping and doing something that you like doing is also a benefit. Being outdoors with nature is also rewarding. At one time in my small town there were alot of trappers when the money dropped most of them quit. But i kept on,threw thick and thin, good and bad. It was also a good time to buy some used traps. We will never get rich, but we will enjoy our selves. Why do i trap ,for alot of reasons------

well, the reason has actually changed several times over the expanse of my "trapping career". When I was young, Oh yeah, i was young, it really was about the money to me. That is probably why I didn't get very good at it though, trying to hurry up and get rich! I soon realized that to worry about the money was so far out of reach that I started thinking a little more straight, And I began to realize that this trapping stuff was a challenge! So I set out to master it,!!! HA! Then It became an excuse to get out of the house and chase girls. I then went several years and began to raise a family of 2 boys. I started teaching them all I knew of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, of all types. It was a few yrs. back now that I realized that my sons were growing up with out the precious knowledge of fur trapping and fur handling. So I set out to teach them all I knew, and to learn with them. They are the biggest reason of all as to why I trap.

Well I am too old to chase girls and my wife would kill me if I did. I trap because I really get to see animals that I have known about my whole life, but never had much chance to learn them, up close and personal. Also I consider it a great challenge to get the critter I am after to step right where I want him too. I also see it as an avenue to get the young'ns actively involved at an age where they may not be able to handle a gun. I love it and can list a lot more reasons for doing it but I like to keep things short.
