Okay, I have been talking with several people that use modified traps. They think differently about them as to why a person should use a mod. trap. I use them not to hold an animal better, but to help do fair battle against the frost, ice, snow, etc. I have no problems holding an animal in a well adjusted, well bedded and set, un-modified stock trap. It's simply the weather related things is why I do. What are your reasons to run modified traps if you do? Don't be bashful, if you use them for a different reason, let er fly, no foul!!!!!!

Well I guess I mod at least somthin on about every trap I get, wither it is night latchin them or movin the chain to the center of the trap frame. Some I have laminated to help provent any foot damage, some I have drilled and chainged pan bolts t get rid of pan slop. I like to ben up or bubble the jaw tips on most traps to. I modded a bunch of 110's adding a spike to make settin them in runs fast and eazy. I end up changing the chain on almost every trap I get too, from rat traps to my wolf traps, the chain seams to be the place were trap companys get cheep. I moddify my trigers on my 330's to make them fire with way les travel, now instead of a sprung trap or a rat held by the tail I usuly get the rats that go threw my 330's right across the chest and beavers right right behind the ears. I don't know if all thease things are necisary but I like doing them and I feal then that I am bringin a better trap to the set that way. Just my 2 pennys worth
