How far do you have to travel to check your traps.

In years past it could have been 100+ miles but its about 15-25 mile loops now depending on where we're at in the season. If we're trapping over around the state capitol its 30 miles over and 10-15 miles around it and 30 miles back.

It's not too hard to get in over 25 miles in these parts, in a loop. Toward the end of last season I was only driving 10 miles and walking about 1 1/2 miles.

Last year I did a yote line that was about 20 miles from the house and then about a ten mile loop. I usually try not to go much further than about 5 miles from the house in any direction for yotes. I have to drive 50 km to get to any beavers and then about ten km on ski doo for me its a money losing deal but I do it in Feb. when the yotes are done and for a nice change.

my lines generally are between eight and ten miles, but as i operate each line from camp,i will have six to ten lines out at a time.,,this year i am going to shorten the length on most, and limit myself to five lines from each camp.

I trap kinda on the fly, so I don't really just drive to one spot/area and go from there. Instead, like many others, my lines are spread out over large areas thus covering more travelways. My lines tend to run between 20 -35 miles long, generally in a well thought out and scouted route, forming a loop.
