I didnt come up with this one. It was published years ago and recently republished but Ive used it and modified it for myself. 1 cup Herbal essence shampoo, 1 cup green apple shampoo, 1 bottle 2 oz. anise extract. Mix and warm first 3 ingredients, not simmering just warm to the touch. Add 1/2 cup or so of melted lard. I deviate from this base some. Sometimes I skip the herbal essence. Ive substituted several fruit extracts for the anise. Ive skipped the green apple and used persimmon. Good formula to experiment with/on. Good luck and the price is right.

Heres some extra FYI and a grey fox bait/lure that works: We make a green apple shampoo lure for rats and coon too that you can make in your kitchen without finding the RAM pasture plus all the ingredients are probably in your house already. Cherry extract would be a good rat lure/bait base. Basic lure additives like sweet flag will have some attraction but would be better in formulations. Heres a basic rat/coon lure. You can adjust the ingredients and use generic shampoo etc to save a few bucks. Cheap as it is even using premium shampoo/ingredients you can afford to use alot. This is one of the formula's we used last year that was adjusted from an original recipe, 1 cup Herbal Essence shampoo green apple scent, small bottle(4oz) of Anise Extract or Oil of Anise(cheaper here), 1 cup corn syrup. Heat those 3 ingredients warm to touch and stir in 1 cup melted lard. Bottle in clean containers and shake well. Heres another bait/lure we used last few years with good results. 1/4 gallon blackberry scrap's from jelly canning, 6oz of vanilla extract(we used imitation because it was ALOT cheaper) warmed it up and 4 cups of melted lard helped solidify it (we caught and released several greys over the last few years off of this one too).
