Wondered if many here chase bushytails anymore? We like to setup around den trees or nut trees when they are ready or corn fields before the nuts are ready. 20ga either our single shots or pumps mostly with modified or full chokes until we have plenty then we switch to frontstuffers rifles and muskets. Once the leaves drop we use our .22's more. Last few years Ive carried a Navy .32 cap and ball more and more but I'd hate to have to live on the kill from it. The Navy .36's are fun too but when you connect its a little messier. The cap and ball revolvers seem to work better when calling squirrels and they come closer due to the distress calls.

Pine squirrel or something like that? I never knew those non edible ones existed until on another forum the subject came up and fur trapping for them. They said they tasted like pine sol.

I don't really actively go after them, but I do take a few with my bow once in a while. It is a lot of fun to stalk them to get within my range and take one out on the way to the deer stand. I also have a Ruger mk II competition 22 pistol with a 2.5x Leupold scope on it that is a great squirrel gun. I am not as steady as I used to be but it is still a lot of fun to squirrel hunt with it. I loaned it to my cousin though, he was getting ready to use it for the 4H pistol competition and ended up going with the air rifle instead. Good thing he did, he won Nationals in 22 rifle comp 1 year and the air rifle the next.

Congrats to your cousin Mohawk. Thats quite an accomplishment. We take a few squirrels(and turkeys) during our archery deer season but we never set up for them or actively hunt them during that time.
