last time i trapped wolves with leg holds was over 20 years ago and i used the 14 oneda jump trap with teeth and the #4 newhouse wolf trap, both were excellent wolf traps at that time. Gave it all up for snares

I use mostly snares but have started learning how to use traps the last few years. I'm no "Wolfer" I just love trapping them. First wolf was taken at a post set on my sno-go trail on the edge of a large swamp. The post was made with my domestic dog's urine. This wolf was traveling alone. This wolf was taken in a post set on a river. This post was a natural post made when the pack had been through previous. She was traveling with two other wolves.

Thanks Fellas, Unfortunately the majority of the wolves in my area have lice which makes them somewhat unmarketable. Here is the rub on the black one.... and the rub on the tawny wolf.

Judd, the lice cause the skin to put of oil or something near to that. The under fur on the haunches is matted under the guard hairs, and the hide tans up very stiff. Skin sewers and taxidermists don't like to work with it too much. Those two are pretty nice compared to most like these four. With these you take the claws, skull, and tail if it is good seal them and haul them back out for wolf sets. A few can be sold for pedestal mounts if the rub isn't to the ears.
