I have been told if a deer is hit the tail stays down If you miss the stays goes up,is there any Truth to this

Umm, There is some truth to that but it isn't a cold hard fact. I have seen hard hit deer take off running with the tails down, they run hard and as fast as they can to get away from what "got" em. I also have seen deer trot off with their tail in the air just to fade and fall in a few yards. I see a lot of deer get shot, otherwise I wouldn't be able to make such an observation. Nothing is 100% though, individual animals react differently. More often than not though if you shoot and see that deer hi tailing it out of the country with its tail tucked between its legs you got some skinning to do.
