I found this jewel at a great price. It is a "Mosin Naggant 90-31". It is an old Russian war rifle, used in WW1, WW2, and the Korean conflict. After that, the Russians decided to restore all them and pack them away in a preservative for the "next" world war. Thankfully, it has been so long since a world war has happened, that technology has out grown these rifles, and they decided to market them. They are in 7.62x54R caliber, which is VERY close to .308 in performance and size. I love it! You can, if you wish, get all kinds of modern modifications, but I like mine original. Here is a pic of one, though mine has nicer wood. I picked up mine for $125.00 along with bayonett, sling, oil and solvent can, cleaning kit and tool pouch, all original!

yeah, I like the look and feel of the original gun. At most I will add a recoil pad. My dad has a fully sportsterized one. I like it too, I just like the nostalgia of the original.

I've got the full leangth Nagant and the M-44 carbine. I use the M-44 to hunt with. Didn't shoot it for a LONG time after hurting my back last year. Finaly got out to the range again. Reasixed I wasn't so used to the KICK from that thing anymore.

I used to have one just like that Cat and I loved it, cost next to nothen to buy, shot good enough to put meat in the freazer and was ugly enough if I dropped it or fell in a pond while hunting with it I probly would have increased the value. Every one neads a few rifles like that

I found an out fit up here that sold synthetic stocks for them, the out fit was called S.I.R mail order but they partnerd up with cabelas so you might be able to get all sorts of bolt on goodies.
