Wow...... for around here, we got busted with a good winter storm! It snowed it's keester off yesterday and last night. I really didn't expect anything to have worked the sets. I'll start from a few days ago. 2 days ago, I came up to 2 snares I had placed in the same path that a couple cats appear to be taking. To my disappointment, A large cat had went through both snares as both were knocked down and pulled to the same side and the loops were drawn down to as small as a quarter. I figure the cat had put his head to the side of the loop somehow, the snares fired, and the cat's leg pulled the snare till it wouldn't pull anymore and he shook it off. The same day, in a nice brushy row, a rabbit had gotten in a set. I could see the fresh cat tracks come up the lane I had made from making and checking the set, then I could see where the cat had "played" with the caught bunny awhile before he jerked it out of the trap. Had another set 10 ft up the line, but no cat. He kept on going the other way as he had missed that set going by it on the outside. (the sets are in the middle of the row) I think the new snow will force him back to the center, if not, I will be makeing a set for him on the outside VERY soon. AS IF THAT IS NOT BAD ENOUGH..... I had set a couple sets under an old bridge where a couple cats have been getting on and off the creek ice. Fortunatly for me, I had a possum in the one set, and I could see where my cat had cut off short that night I'm guessing to avoid the stinking possum in my trap. I could see exactly how it did it. BUT...... Today was a new day, and russ and I went out to run. I had the first two snares i have already talked about, and then one more snare all alone on a small brushy ditch connecting 2 very brushy timber stands on a different property. We felt as the track we had cut was a single cat, but it turns out we were wrong. This morning we had a nice 23 lb tom cat, with a perfect neck catch. I'm no snare man, so I only use them if I have to, but this time it paid off. We could see where another cat had came with him, and then cut off and around to another string of brush i'm guessing because the tom was throwing a fit. I went back out a while ago and made a foot hold set for the female in the same spot. We will never catch all of them, but as good as we can tell we are dealing with 9 different cats. At another set area, a cat had come through, only on an upper trail in a wide funnel that it hadn't taken before...... we will be ready for next time. Anyways, here are some pics of my first snared cat. Sorry, no pics of him in the snare, just some good pics of him being held by me. \ Hope tommorow brings more of the Lords good graces!!!! ;D

Thanks guys! To tell the truth, I have been getting REAL discouraged lately. Can't seem to get anything right on the trap line! I sure hope that was an ice breakin catch!!! lol
