I needed a new pot to wax traps in. I had bought a 70s era camper that had very old propane tanks on it. I removed the valve on it and filled it with water. Then i had cut it at work in the saw. It stunk up the whole shop. I washed down the saw, changed the coolant and cleaned out the coolant tank. I hope the odor is gone by 7am this morning. I don't know if i can get the odor out of this tank, but its worth a try.

If the odor does not disapate in a couple of days, Build a fire in and smoke/burn it off. Light it from a distance though

I had burned it out and the smell almost gone. Then i rubbed a paste of baking soda inside of it. I'll have to get someone with a better sniffer than mine to do a sniff test.

deadwolf now that you are this far into your waxing pot try using logwood trap dye. That should remove the smell and also coat the inside of your pot

I know the older fellows use to burn birch bark in the drums to get rid of the smell of diesel..maybe that would work.
