I took some pix for a fella on another forum of how I set my traps in the winter, so I thought I would show you fellas too ;D This is a home made wolf trap designed and biult buy an old trappper who used to trap around here and lived right close to me. Another old trapper lent me 2 of his old traps to use this winter, kinda neat usin his old gear in his old stompin ground, the traps even have his name stamped into the bottom. here the trap is all set and attached to the drag I put my traps in produce bags to keep it from freazen down and from getting snow under the pan and preventin it from fireing. Once the bag is on I just place the trap right in a wolf track in the snow, push down and bed it solidly, then lightly cover it in snow and hide the ancore in a bush. It isnt fancy but it works

They are an awsome trap, the fella that made them wanted to make and sell them but some one pattend his trap on him and stopped that idea. So the story goes he was so mad about that he took his tools to the next trappers meatin and showed all our local members how to make thier own. Even how to roll the springs your self. I guess he figured if he couldnt sell them than no one was going to have to pay for them iether. This trap became none as the BC wolf trap or the Mckenzie wolf trap.

fuzz could you show a picture of your drag? I sure would like to use them but am leery about it in most of my open areas. Especially with the hard pack ice we have now. I use a 5-6 foot by 4-6 inch spruce pole buried in the trail for a drag. I have heard great reviews with the produce bags also and need to try that out. Has to be a lot faster than wax paper. Thanks for the post.

These are the 2 wolf drags I use the most, it sure dont take much to get them tangled up with these drags.
