I am sure I am not the first guy to come up with this idea just cause it works great and it was kinda obvious after I tryed it I was buildin some martin boxes and had left the hard ware cloth scraps on the bench, when I neaded to board a coyote. I got to the tail of the coyote and then the idea came to me. If I used the hard ware cloth I could save about 20 push pins. Now I use this trick for all my fur, martin, lynx, fox. I bet it would work good on coons too. Like I said I am sure some one else used it first but I still thought I would pass it on. And yess I know that coyote was alittle blue still.

I use a wedged shaped piece of cardboard cut from shipping boxes for coyotes, fox, coon fisher, it holds the tails straight and collects any fat that runs off the pelt.

That would work good too, I bet. I use the hardwere cloth on all my tails now, Martin, coyote, fox, lynx and I hope to try it out on a fisher one of these seasons.

I have been using the screens for many years and love them, specially for marten, mink and otter.. The cardboard method was shown to me by my friend Pete however I still prefer the screen. The cardboard certainly does work well and soaks up the grease.

I pinned the tails on my mink like it showed in our manuel but they are the only ones I pin, I bet on a greesy coon the card board would be good thow.

fuzz if you use your thumbs to widen and shorten the mink tails, same with otters, the screen works very well.

On the critters I do it on it save me alot of time that is for sure, I will definetly give it a try on my next mink, and if I ever catch an otter it will get the same treatment lol.
