I had kept a handwritten journal in 2006/2007 of my entire season from my first day arriving at camp to the last day I packed up and left. I kept track of every trip on the trails, all the new trail I found and made. I noted every animal track I saw and also of the few animals I saw. I kept track of how many and what type of sets I made each day. I had given names to certain locations so it would be easy to relate to the place I was referring to. I kept track of the daily weather morning, noon, afternoon and evening, moon phases and animal movement peaks and valleys trying to figure out if a person can forecast animal movement by weather in the future. I described all of my catches and my misses and what I tried to change. I took pictures of all my catches and lots of trails and scenery. I had planned to type all of this info out and start making a book of my trapping experiences. Not a book for sale but one for myself. It would have made an awesome addition to a forum like this. My registered are all forested. I have alot of Lynx, Wolf, Otter, Marten, fisher, coyote on my line. I had the story of catching my first marten and how I missed a number of wolves and what sets I had that the wolves didn't like. Unfortunately all of that information has been destroyed. I have some of the pictures that were on the internal memory but the memory card itself got pooched and I couldn't get my pics off of it. I couldn't put it in my cameras or computers, they would just lock up solid. I have been getting closer and closer to getting all my pics on photobucket and posting them on here, hopefully it will happen soon. I promise to keep a journal of my next season. I might even get a short one from now til spring if I am well enough to get out on the line. I have a lot of beaver to round up close to home but surprisingly there is hardly any or no ice.

Thanks puppa, i am looking forward to your journal. I too for many years have taken pics of my fur and trapping outings, it's nice to look back and see how things went and achievements that you accomplished. Now with the digital camera all my pics go onto the computer instead of the photo album, i should actually print them off before the same things happen to me as you. Good luck with your spring beaver.

A really good computer Store should have a technician that can recover your hard drive and download it to DVD's. I had a Friend do mine. I also put all my photos on a DVD to have a back up set.
