Another trick I learned from the trappin instuctor, when I got my licence was for after you have the beaver fleashed and boarded you can use a razor to get rid of any fat or cartilige/grissle. all you need is an ols safty razor and you take the gaurds off one side, now if you can get one older than mine that doesn't open on top but the handle unscrews and the whole razer is in 3 pieces you are way better than the one I have. For around the face and ears or just smoothin out the thick hide on the sholders or at the tail, it works great and when the pelt drys it drys very smooth and flat if you work it over with the razer.

I am going to try an Alaskan Ulu knife for the first time this year. Epler wrote about how to do it in his fur handling book....... i sure hope it is better then what I have been doing!
