How much snow can get on a roof before you need to worry about it?

8 miles in from highway White. Harold our roofs can take a lot of snow load, but to be on the safe side when they get 2 to 3 feet i clean. Better to look up and see ceiling instead of stars

Jeez I cannot imagine 2-3 feet of snow on the roof. That would be a little scary. I suppose with global warming, if I get that much it will be easy to clean off as my house is earth contact with dirt right to the eves on three sides.

PS: I really do not buy into global warming..... Just so you know. I think it is a way for a certain few to take more money out of my pocket.

Global warming here Harold not as cold for long periods of time like 10 to 15 years ago when we would get -40 for weeks on end. And you guys i see are starting to get global cooling ;D. 3 sided earth bound house very warm in winter and cool in summer i bet.
And thanks gth for the comment, we are getting things in shape out there for walleye fishing soon.

Wolf, when I first moved to Kansas in the late 70, we had terrible winters here, then it gradually became less severe. Now, it seems the pedelum is swinging the other way and the winters are getting colder and with more snow. I love the earth contact house. Very easy on utilities both in winter and summer. If I were to build a new house, I would build and earth contact. Did I mention there is no stairs or steps.
