I have a dumb question for you good rat trappers on here. How do you tell a push up from a feed pile?? Sorry I know this is trappin kid 101, but my rats are all bank denners and I have never trapped, push ups/huts befor. I may have just gaind acsses to a lake/slew on a farm next to were I am workin on a coyote problem. The farmer I am helpin said there were huts all over the slew and was going to ask the nabor if I can trap it for him,,,,,,,,,,as long as he can come and help ;D He trapped when he was a kid with his uncle and loves gettin out there still. Brings back good memories for him I geuss.

Hey fuzz push ups are much small than the houses, probably 2 feet wide and above the water/ice level. They will generally be out a ways from the larger houses. Rats don't have feed beds like beaver. They go out ,find their feed and take it to the pushup or house to dine.

Oh I thought the realy big piles I have sean on some marshes were we hunted ducks, were just piles of feed they had stored for winter. Bear with me here,, are they both hollow and can be trapped buy cuttin a plug and placin your trap buy the hole in the ice inside?? Is one better than the other to trap?? Will 1.5 fit down thier holes, or do I modd some #1 and#0 with the extra waight to make them BC regs leagle??

Yes they are both hollow. You can trap either but I perfer to trap only the feeder station pushups only. Unless you are very careful about covering the entrance hole you make, can freeze them out. I find the #1 with weigth added the better trap. The 1 1/2 is alittle big for the hole but will work.
