What is the best bait,trap size and sets.

The best traps would be coliny or sub traps, you simply place then in runs or channels were they narrow, the rats swim in abd cant get out. As far as foot holds, I think 1.5 in iether coils or longsprings would be the best. there is a set called a mock slide set were you simply use your foot to make a skuf mark on the bank, spash some water on it to make it look like rats have bean commin in and out of the water on it. Then make a flat spot just under the water to place you trap. You can use lure at this set but if you dont have any lure it will take alot of rats just as is. There are many simple sets that will work for you. I will try to get a pix of a mock slide.

Colony traps are great foot traps in the 1 and 1 1/2 size.
Also bodygrip in the 110 & 120 size.

Sorry I have not got you a pix of a mock slide set yet, our water has bean rage'n these last few days as the snow has realy started meltin, but it looks like leavels are startin to leavel out and I should be able to get a pix soon. Sorry for the delay

I finaly got a pix of a mock slide set, sorry it isnt that great of a pix but it kinda shows how it works.  The slide is commin down the bank and in the water right at the bottom is the trap, you can use a dab of lure with this set but I have caught alot with no lure on this set. |
