Just curious what everyone favorite mink trap is/was. As a kid the Diamond no.21 double jaw was a favorite but they are all collector items now. No1, 1 1/2 and no2 jumps worked good too and were cheaper then coilspings at that time. No.11 is my preferred trap now. The guard traps still catch a few mink for us each season. 110 and 220 conibears work good too in certain spots. We remove one spring off of most of our 220's. Safer and one spring puts down anything from a dumb red down to 'rats.

So far I have only caught 2 both in baited boxes, one was a 120 ldl mag the other was a 110 duke mag. They both worked great. I realy hope one year the season will open when there is still open water and I can try trappin some on drowners.

We catch most of ours in lured sets but blind sets espescialy with coni's take a few every year. Never had alot of luck with bait for mink. Fuzz hope you get a chance for open water mink trapping, its a blast. They're my favorite critter to chase. White Im a longspring man myself. Coilsprings are ok but I like the feel and weight of a longspring.

I had gramps old traps to use when I started way too long ago. He only had a few single coilspring no.1's so the SLS and DLS in many sizes were my first traps along with some jumps and double flat springs like the no.44's. I cant remember him owning a conibear when I started trapping but he bought a few later on. He was a houndsman too so Im sure the conibears concerned him.
