Was looking into buying a inverter for Camping and other outdoor activities and I hav a few questions for you guys. I was wundering on brands, size, and hooking two in tandem for the odd time in the R.V. I want quiet and reliable [of course, lol] . I know it is more money to buy two but to buy one that puts out enough to power an ac weighs a tonn and makes so you can't use it on boating trips . I was just looking for some insight from someone other than the salesman!

You can not beat the Honda or Yamaha. Stay clear of the Canadian Tire or Princess Auto generators. They are noisy and meant to be throw away i'm sure.

if you are looking at power for todays electronics it is recommended to get and inverter because they produce cleaner power than a generator. when we bought our new trailer in 09 it had a flat screen hd tv in it and i was to cheap to replace the old honda generator that my dad bought and gave to me from 1987 and it took 1 weekend to screw the tv. it was replaced on warranty but i was told it is best to use an inverter and we have had the same tv for the last 3 years using the 3500 is honda inverter.

I looked at them both. Bought the Yamaha EF200iS for 2 reasons.
You can shut the fuel off with out shutting the generator off (drain carb) Our local Yamaha dealer is much better to deal with over the local honda guy.
Other than that the differences are negligable. Both are good quality machines. I can carry the generator in one hand and a 24 of beer in the other..........try that with a Canadian Tire cheap one..... ;D
