Here is a good idea. I saw this on the internet a while back. I decided to make a few. What do you think? One link will hold a coon and two a yote, so the article said. After making a few, they seem strong and I like them cause they lay flatter than a crush proof swivel.

Here is the test. I took a heavy chain and put both the new link swivel and the crush proof swivel in the chain. Then I used another chain and chained one end to the bucket on my tractor and the other to the frame on the front end. I hit the hydralic lever and applied pressure. On the first test the J hooks on the chain link swivel failed. On the second test the J hooks on the crush proof swivel failed. The tractor is a John Deer, 26 HP and at an idle, will pick up round bales that weight about 400 pounds each. I would not be afraid to use the link swivel and infact I plan on making more and using them.

Looks good, I have never sean any thing like that befor, great idea. The only thing I would worry about would be the rim on the j hook werein off and failing but it should hold up to a few catches first and would be eazy to inspect for wear. I look forward to some catch pix and testin resolts this fall.
