Who uses a power skinner or winch systom for skinnin thier critters? I use a winch to help with yotes, I don't have the clamp to hold the hide at the bottom so I was usin the rope and golf ball trick and it worked good, but it was kinda time consuming so now I just use the winch to keep the coyote at a nice hight to skin and pull, sure saves the back. I may make a set of hide clamps yet. What set ups have worked for you fellas and witch were train wrecks? ;D

I use a boat winch . I never heard of the golf ball trick? I use a rope that has a slip knot of sorts that I put around the back end fur once I have the legs and tail skinned out. Then I winch away you have to be careful in spots but once I have done a few in the fall I get the feel for it again. I do POP"a couple every year.

OY, the golf ball trick is just puttin a golf ball on the fur side and puttin a rope noose over the golf ball from the skin side. Once over the ball just tighten up the noose and tie the tail of it to somthin solid, and start pullin. Works good just kinda slow, I found it faster just to grab a handfull of hide and pull.

Instead of a golf ball, you can use hitch balls (clean one), clean smooth rocks, or anything clean and smooth around that size. I ussually use the hitch ball.

Boys let me tell you that the best power skinner around is my son Russell! LOL! LOL! I don't even have to be there to do anything with that type! ;D Honestly I am afraid to death of power skinners as I see where people have used them and have pulled off noses, heads, and pulled pelts in half. I'm just to leery and TIGHT to get one!

Even if you just rig up a boat winch and some pullies, and only use it to keep your critter at a comfertable hight to work at you will be mad you didn't get one sooner,,,,,,,but as far as eazzzz of pullin hides a "Russell Skinner" is prity much as good as it gets lol.
