I just orderd some trappin suplys from helford hide, and I was lookin at the 3/64, 1x19 cable for makin replacement snares for my ram power snares, when I noticed they are sellin 3/64 cam locks now too. So I orderd 20 locks and some cable and I am going to make a few to try on coyotes. Should be able to hide that small wire nicely and it should kill fast to. I will keep you fellas posted on how they work out this winter.

I use 3/64 on all my ram power snares with great results as long as I don't forget the safety on But I have held a couple yotes over the years with just the snare and the ram not going off so with a lock you sure would increase your chance I imagine. It won't put up with any bad catches which is good because if he concious for long he will be gone .

I have only lost one coyote in 1/16 cable, but for some reason the 3/32 snares I bought premade never killed a coyote, I lost several to them so I quit usin them, I have never lost a coyote in 5/64. I mostly use 5/64 and 1/16, I thought this 3/64 with stinger springs might be good in some realy open spots were I have a hard time hidin snares

Well I got my new cable from Helford hide to day ( I wish we had a madder lookin smiley) I orderd 500' thinkin I would ret a roll, Wrong!!! It showes up in 100 foot rolles that are still conected to each other and real handy to use... It was back rolled on to itself and is all twisted and screwd up from that, plus 4 of the rolls look like some one used them for a door stop in the warhouse. Neadles to say I am fummin right now. I tryed to make 1 snare out of the stuff and it looked like I tryed to load it the wrong way befor I built it. The best part is it is friday and I can't even call them and gross them about this till monday. I have snares in my skrap cable bucket that cought coyotes already that look better than this stuff. Last time I order cable from helfords that is for dam sure.

OH I will be returnin it, you can count on that! I can handle a few kinks, I just cut that part out and use it for cable ancores and such. This batch is maybe good for drowninwires for muskrats maybe. I am still lookin for 1/16 1x19, I get most all my cable threw the local industrial supply store in 500', 1000' and ever so often they can get 5000' rolls. I will re order thew them from now on.

I hate any kinks or imperfections in my snaring cable. to me it just ruins it as it is never the same. I use 1/16 in 7x7 for cats, but I would imagine it would work for yotes. I think i might be tempted to jump one size up, for regular use for yotes though.

I used alot of 7x7 1/16 for yote and it works great Catmando, the small cable digs in fast and gets the job done, I am goin more towards the 1x19 just cause it is stiffer and I can get it to reach out into trails alittle better.
