Went for a drive this afternoon and did a little calling. Got one big old dog at the first stand! Tough old bugger wouldn't lay down! I was going to take a pic but very bloody so I will post one tomorrow once I have him on the board. I did a second stand about a mile down the lake shore and called in a group of four but the wind at that direction was not my friend and I knew I was pooched when the big lead dog threw his head up at about 350 yards and without even breaking strike he was going back the way he had come ,passing the next one in line! LoL I am sure the last one never even smelt me yet but just fallowed the others lead. To far for me off hand and running so all I could do was bark and yip but there mind was made up. Seed for next year. I tried two more stands but all I had come in was magpies and ravens. Killed a few hours and I checked out a muskrat slough that I was told was loaded this fall .All I could see was a couple push-ups,must be all living in the banks. Hope they do't freeze out.

One dog is better then none, maybe next time the wind will be in your favor. What is your distance that you open up on them?

Like with any shooting the situation is everything. I shoot a t.C single shot and am always looking for the closest I can get them with multiple yote coming so I can get some shooting at a second or third lol 300 and under is good. 50 and closer Is more the norm when calling . These ones were were at a bad angle from me and I was up tall on my knees when I got a bead on them. I knew there was no way I would hit one and if I did the chances of knocking one dead without a foot chase was slim! Lol. I let the first one come to 100 yards or so before I vented him. I was in a old set of corrals sitting ,leaning on the rails.

I wish non-residents could hunt coyotes in Sask cause I would be saving my $$ to go out every year.
You called in more coyotes in one day than I did in my best season here. ;D
I sure liked predator calling but when you have limited succes like here it gets old quick. My best year was 6 fox, 2 yotes and 1 Wolf.
And our coyotes are garbage, not really worth skinning, not the silkies you guys have.

well me and Seb went out today and at the first spot called in a beauty of a yote to @60 yards and i f.... missed! Seb would have done better with his cap gun. We went down the ravine a 1/2 mile and mad another stand and had a response within 5 minutes but the wind wasn't perfect for the direction he was coming from and at 200 or so he refused to come in any closer and hinted that he was going to exit so I took a pretty good rested shot resting on my knees at him and shot LOW! I was so dissapointed that we drove straight home straight downto the shooting bench in the yard and set up to see what was the issue. Well the first group of three were in a clover leaf pattern ,all touching but 9 inches low and two to the left. Once adjusted all the groups were right where I like them and perdictable so I am sure there is nothing wrong with my rig jusyt strange I have never had an issue with that gun before it is always perdictable. O well easy night skinning! Would explain the blood bath on the wild boar and some strange bullet plasement on the yote yesterday

Was out yesterday aftrenoon with Seb and a buddy for a few stands. The first stand we had one come out at the lake shore for a brief moment and then slip back into cover and comence to bark and howl at us like crazy, so i did the smae thing back trying to get it to show itself and maybe come in a little closer it was about 350 yards to the cover. Hosestley usualy in this situation I havn't had much luck coming back out with all the yipping and kie-yie-ing but after 15 minutes she came out and about 50 yards closer barking the whole time. Well with all the confidence in the world after all the shooting at the bench we had been doing the last couple days and the fact that we we set up on a square bale stack so I had a rock solid rest I leveled the cross hairs a wisker high right between the ears and ended all that flipin barking! Lol We called in one more a couple stands later that my buddy got a shot at in the silver willows but missed. We were in the big pasture and with no snow this year all the deer are still in the same places as before winter. They never went to there wintering grounds so they were every where .Seb got lots of deer shooting with his finger gun. (I convinced him to leave his cap gun at home)
