What are you using to hook the cage wire to the funnel? Hog rings?
I was thinking of trying some small zipties.

wish i had hog rings, and a j clip pliers for that matter. I just using wire. But zip ties ,now that is an idea ! hmmm Maybe use bigger ones to put the whole thing together? Because let me tell you they take me forever to twist all them ends together.

Well here are the three sizes 6,8,12 inch . The squares are 5,6,7 so they fit together. I am using zip ties now to hold the funnels in and heavier ones for hinges on the clean out doors.I figure if they rot off they are nothing to replace and rats don't try to seperate the funnel from the wire they try to squeze between the two.. Now if i could come up with a simple latch? Other than wire! lol thanks for the idea gth .

I have only made one trap but I used a small square of the cage wire for a door. Maybe I over did it with mine. You figure that the two wires (coat-hanger) enough to keep the rats from swimming back out?
