I got permission on about 8 miles of creek last fall and am going to go and scout it tommorow. I drove through it in deer season and seen a few beaver houses from the trail so I am confident that it should have lots. I have never trapped this stretch of creek so I am just going to scope it all out and check water depths so I know what I need for snare poles and the such. It is mostly willow so poplar should be a nice treat for them. Nothing ticks me office then hauling in a buch of snare poles that are too short. Lol.

Well just got back and the news is nit good. Seems they decided to do some thing to the dam's( dynamite maybe ?small holes about 5 feet accross) since the last time I was there . The water dropped 4 feet at least, and all the runs coming out of the houses where high and dry. I don't know where the beaver are now but I could find no signs of any . Lots of mink and weasel tracks. Wish there was beaver because I have not caught a mink since I was a kid. Oh well I will have to go to the south end of the creek next time and see whats going on. I have trapped that section several times so I hope there is some there.I do have several oyher houses to trap but they are a bit of a pain with all this snow to load and unload ski doo for individual houses on sloughs. A nice run down a creek with several houses would of been easier but what can you do. If it was easy everyone would do it. LOL

I went and checked out a resevour that is stocked with trout yesterday .The wildlife federation gave me permission to trap the beavers down there but I couldn't find them. The snow along its steep banks is atkeast 4 feet deep . I drove the shore line three times and still nothing. I am sure with that deep water and steep banks the will be in some sort of bank bank den but I couldn't find any feed bed. I will have to return when the snow melts some.
