wolfs 2013 trapping season

This morning had a few white flakes coming down and got all my gear loaded. Was up at the cabin yesterday to check on things because of the moose hunt starting today. Have some beaver to remove from road side before they get shot off. Just finished some nuisance beaver last week and the fur is well into the prime. Not many places in Canada except the North can not compete for early primeness as we have. We always get the Arctic jet stream from James bay down to our location. Our weather here is like Northern Manitoba or Interior Alaska. Anyway i'm starting cause I have many beaver to get. Keep you posted.

Weather has warmed up to much to continue beaver trapping so we came in on Wednesdays. Got 9 beaver and one rat. The beaver fur has been better then I have seen in years. Last year was very good quality for this time of season but this year has that beat.





















Now some moose pics. Not mine as I have give it up but my friends from Toronto. Sent them to an area where I had seen some moose day before the season. Took two bikes to drag it out. Shot at 7.40 am and out by 5.00 pm.










bull had a 50 inch rack and weighed in at just under 1000 pounds gutted. They are some happy boys and only 3 miles from my cabin.

My nephew came in from camp this morning with his calf moose and 5 more beaver.

I see he never went thirsty at camp! Lol. Good job. Our cow moose seasononen tomorrow I will wait til it cools off. Ave a hanging fee.

Set up two beaver houses yesterday. Got 6 this morning.




this one weighed 53 lbs. Biggest ofr the day






these two little guys were over 300 yards from the house. Both were in scent sets only. Rule of thumb has always been the farther away from the house the bigger the beaver?

Traps reset on the dam. In another couple weeks if not sooner when the ice forms will move those traps out from the opening and under the water. This will make them freeze proof and turn them into otter killers.

Yes Greg both lines but only working Basket for now. Next week will move over to other line and hope things don't freeze up as the ponds are icing over now.

Have been ill with the flu for almost a week now and have done next to nothing. Went and checked one set this morning.

this guy weighed 62 lbs


here is my baby beaver...lol.....might have to get bigger traps.



If tomorrow I feel better will head out to set up some more.
