Gota few days to chase deer these last few. Tough going , snow is hard and deep and our brutal winter and spring blizzard has numbers down this was probably the largest buck I seen and after a brutal foot race up a large hill I got him. I had hit him poorly after taking a very long, trotting shot ( 545 yards) I know I shouldnt of shot but the gun just went off. Lol. I hit him in the front foot. He stuck with his doe and even with his injury and running through the first bush he turned around when the doe didn't fallow. I got a shot at a patch of fur underneath horns so I took it. The bullet went through a 4" poplar tree before hitting him . The 200 grain partition hit him like a cannon ball . Not sure a lighter caliber would of turned out the same.

I had to go and get a helper and the tundra to get him out.

I see your dead eye is till working for you. Now that you killed the poplar as well as the deer you now can use the dead poplar as bait for your beaver. Nice deer bud.

He is a mature buck just was never going to be a monster. Like I always say " he didn't know he wasn't a Boone and crocket deer . I think once they are mature it is just the luck of the draw if his antlers are large. They got they same amount of experience. Lol or maybe it's just my jealous side because I have never killed a true slob.
