You will notice I wrote" pix's" as in plural cause I have only caught 2 mink so far ;D maybe this year I can double that This was my first mink ever, I caught it i a martin set on a runnin poll, miles from water the trap was a 120 ldl mag. It was a nice female and I think it went for $11.50 at the nafa sale This was my second mink, a nice big buck. He sold top lot in the last sale, I got $24 for him. I caught him in a baited box set out just for him with a duke 110 mag. I saw his tracks commin up a frozen creek bed, so I set a box. better than a month later he came back and went straight into the box. The funny part of the story is when I saw his tracks cummin up the creek I got all exited hopin I had caught him, but then I got real bummed out cause I saw lynx tracks commin down into the creek bed and coyote tracks commin down the other side, and a wolf had walked down from the road and used my trail to get to the box, my hart sank wounderin if my box and trap were even still there. But to my suprize the wolf and coyote both came and had a good sniff of him and went on there way and the lynx sat ther sniffin him for so long he melted a but print right into the snow. The mink was coverd in froast from snout to tail but there was not one tooth or claw mark on him.

Ya I thought I was prity lucky too, I lose some squirrels every year to lynx playin with them or stealin them. When you skin the ones they played with they look like the inside of a pin cousion and thats what I was afraid this mink would look like, but not a single mark.

Nice mink Fuzz. Have you tried using a mink lure or glandy coon lure? Do you ever get to trap open water? I love trapping mink.

Frozen water makes mink tougher to catch. We've found over the years lure will outperform bait most of the time.

do you think the mink are harder to get in a trap then the martin? How much size difference is there between the 2?

I have caught so few I can't say for sure Catman, one was in a martin set and the other was in a set put there just for him. The big one was about the size of an avrige martin.
