Well, as sneakysnake said on his thread, weather was rather nasty this afternoon. The oldest boy, Russ, and I went to setting at noon today on the opener. Russ is going to maintain this particular line and it is a good one. We managed to get in 33 sets, 4 of which were bodygrips, and 29 were foot holds. All sets were made in blind set fashion, save 3, and they were baited. The sign looks promising as most sets have multiple coons going right where are traps are now set.
We hope to get line #2 going by the end of Saturday. It will have almost the same amount of sets, but more body grip sets, done blind style. We shall see.
Both lines we have done much preperation before season. We scouted, punched in slide wires and drowners, punched in stakes for all coni's and stationary traps. We then only a few days before season went in and put in every set all but the last bit of blocking needed. After today, I'm very glad as it allowed us to finish setting that line in only 4 hrs today. would have taken WAY longer if we had waited.
I'll post pics of daily catches, and sets will be posted periodically. We will also try and throw in several trapped on site coon pics. We shall see what the morning brings.

Okay, we ended up with 12 coons on our first check. 2 were over 20 lbs, most hovered right under. A couple were not too big, but still made x-large on a board. All were caught in blind foot hold sets but 1, a nice sow on a pvc set with my homemade beaver meat bait! ;D Hope to get the other half of our traps out this weekend, and it should prove to be, very interestingRuss, my son, and I went over some finer points of photography, so next shots should be better. SO..... our first of the season was also our smallest. (x-large) Our daily take We put up 6 tonight and they were all nice and prime........bring on some more!!!!
