I ran the trap line this morning. I had one nice coon from one of the Creeks and a small female yote in a snare. My Son got two shots today at Bucks. The first buck was a small 6 point at a little over 200 yards. He missed. The second buck was a 10 point, very tall and wide rack. The shot was through the timber at about 40 yards. He missed The first missed deer was shot at with his 308. After a little questioning, it has been two years since he has shot it on paper. The 2nd missed buck was shot at with my .270. He should have hit it with my .270. He had some onlookers and I think he got nervous and jerked the trigger. I will put both guns on paper tomorrow just to rebuild his confidence. I am beat. Seen over 40 deer today. I have permanent rings around my eye sockets from so much time looking through the binoculars

White, I think we actually have more Deer than possums, if you can beleive that. Son counted 15 bucks and does on the alfalfa field tonight, They did not come out of the timber till about 5 minutes after shooting time ended.

I just checked the bore site on three rifles, including my .270. It is sitting just where it should be. His .308 is not here, but I suspect he either got buck fever or the scope is off... The scope was bought in 1976 and is a Redfield, but he likes the dang thing. I tried several times to get hime to let me upgrade it. I have 2 .270's and a 243, so surely there is somthing he can kill a deer with.

I had nothing on the trap line today. Son did shoot a 6 point buck just before dark. I found meat and hair where he hit it on the first shot. It ran, so we decided to leave it till daylight, and then go looking.

I sure hope we find it. I have traps that need rebaited, some the need to be wintereized and some pulled. Also have a bunch of snares that need to go out. Deer hunting is getting in the way of trapping. Not really. Would not trade the time spent with the boy for anything......
