Well I got home from Rainbow lake Alberta day before yesterday and was itching to go get some snares set for beavers but another job came up and I guess I will have to wait till I get home in a week. I sure hope there is lots of ice left by then. Calling for some some douple digit highs this week. I know that this is the most productive time for snare poles and learned a trick to cut a very narrow slot to put the snare pole through the ice this prevents them from coming out the hole after being caught . I had this happen in the spring before and it is not good . Funny how some thing so simple i never thought of it and I am sure it will alieviate that problem .

Well me and Seb got out today and checked out the big slough I left the rats in last fall so we had a honey hole for this spring. Pulling up to it it looked great, coukd see 8 to 10 big houses and a wack of push ups. the first three push ups were active and we set them up. But things were not so good from then on. With no snow I Guess the huts and push ups were not insulated and most were froze out! we only set 5 traps, we will check them this evening . We went to a beaver houise on the towns land also and set one conibear in a run I marked in the fall and one snare pole by the feed bed. Not much water left there either , maybe 18 inches under the ice in the run and a foot by the feed bed. I promise some pics if we conect on a rat or two tonight. Plan on setting up some more beaver houses tomorrow. My itch was skratch after chiseling ice for 20 minutes out by the feed bed! LOL

I went to check on some nuisance beaver places I have to take care of today. Still way to much water flowing to set anything. If I would have set some traps last weekend like i planned they would be under 5' of water right now.
Maybe by next weekend I can set it up.

WE conected on two rats. I descided itwas best to leave the rest for seed and take some in the fall . We set up another beaver hous also with two snare poles and one conni in a run .this is the house I caught one out of last fall. I filled the holes back up with snow and kept them on the small side so I hope no one comes out for a breath of fresh air!

This is the house in one of my last posts where all the boys were there. I think Fuzz gave me some luck making fun of my saw! Our Flat land beavers don't know the diffrence between saws! LoL. We caught a beaver on each snare pole and the baited 330 was set off.
