1 is better than none,,Where are the coons, I have asked myself that same question so many times this season. How many miles do you travel to check your 50 sets.??

The first 37 are in a circle that is about 2 1/2 miles and the other 13 is about 2 miles further west and cover about 1/2 mile. I will expand after Deer season which is open from Dec 1 to Dec 12.

nice pics SS, a coon and possums side by side. Do they inter fear with one another. It doesn't look like they mind being in the same company specially in that position that there in.How many coon can live in that 2 mile radius?

It is not uncommon to catch a coon and possum in side by side traps. I guess they just tolerate each other. It is not so much how many are in the area, it is how many come into the feeders once it gets cold, to the South of my #1 trapping area, the timber runs another mile or so to the lake. So basically I am catching coon from a two or more square mile area. The first two years, I pulled 36 and 37 coons off the 240 acres. I have close to 1000 acres to trap this year. I haven't even touched most of it yet. Deer season gets in the way of trapping around here. I am close to a large metro area and every fool with a gun goes South to deer hunt. As there is a lot of public ground around me, they show up here. It is not safe to hardly be out of the house during deer season. Thankfully Deer season is only 12 days long.
