Lord thundering jebus Rob! What a pile of fur. You must have marten hiding behind every tree on that line.........Congrats on the cat too. I think I finally have the wolves committed to my bait sites. Hopefully I can show you my pics next week. It would seem so this year. At our trappers meeting tonight most of the trappers are doing very well in marten and fisher this year. One could almost think there is some sort of migration going on. Hang your snares and show us some of those timbers

Reality has set in and i don't like it. I know it was coming. Out to the line today and picked up some fur, enough to keep me going for another 2 weeks. another pup timber, but she is a nice color. The only wolf track i seen today and it went in about 100 yards of the bait pile and was in a back snare. another otter, just love these dam sets, they never freeze Just a pic of chunky and his 2 otter Nice clear color on this timber. Had big expectations for another lynx today but they have taken off for now. There is always next week. So now i can get back to doing up some more beaver

This year i think around 75 to 80 boxes and 5 or 6 mink boxes. I have only ever trapped about half the line. The other half is always for seed. In fact there are parts of the line i have never been too. Next year my son wants to open those areas up as they will start to harvest wood from the center of the line, one of my major areas of marten. This year with the extra 3 miles of road we cut out behind the cabin we picked up 13 marten,3 fisher,1 mink and 2 beaver just from the new part of the road. Was well worth the effort

Good run Rob!
We need some cold weather to slow own the runoff and I want to try some of those dam sets for otter too.
That is a good colored wolf. Will you do this one with the feet on or like a big coyote? I have only skinned 1 for taxidermy and it took me almost 4 hours.

Thanks Harold, but i don,t think i'm one heck of a trapper. I try hard and work hard when on the line and most of the sets are just repeat from the following year or what ever has worked well over the years. Lets just say im lucky, i like that better.Another thing is that i have a very good productive line which helps even the worst trapper Greg i have a lady from down the street that likes that small wolf and she wants to get it tanned so she can have it as a throw over her couch, she does not want the feet on. She will give me 75.00 for it so done deal in my books. She will let me keep it for a while longer so i can include it in my year end pic Yes White the line is good for marten, some years better then others and how long i decide to keep going. Last year was a short season for me with all the snow and pulled up early and i still did not bad. Now i'm done except for some wolf, fox, lynx, otter and mink sets. Looking at another 2 weeks. We will see how the weather plays a part in this.

I bet your aggressive approach to wolf trapping plays a big part in how productive your line is. You dont have to wipe them out but by keeping the wolves thinned down and it lets everything else have a hope of flourishing. I just hope I can get a handle on the wolves in my area as you have.

Greg after a few seasons on your new line you will learn which areas seem to have more wolf activity. Those are the areas that are best set up for good results.Already you have wolves coming into your bait sites which is good, so now it's just a matter of time before you connect. Good luck with your check this weekend and maybe mr wolf.
Not much going on here now. Took out 3 beaver yesterday to flesh and put on the boards and 3 marten and a mink. Tomorrow will head out and check the sets. Next week i have to get my Christmas shopping done so that i'm not running at the last moment....lol

Nice drive to the line today. -2 was the high for today. Really slow day, was not much moving. No fox, lynx or wolf. Just some otter moving. I picked up one otter today.

H we have had some cold weather here and some times when you get the mild spell things will move more, that's what i was hoping for but not this time. I did see two fox today off my line but could not get a shot.
